Marcin Dorociński at the Academy of the Finest of Arts

Despero in “Pitbull”, Tadeusz in “Róża”, col. Kukliński in “Jack Strong”, and Falski in “Rewers” – are just a few of the characters played by Marcin Dorociński. One of the most talented and respected actors will be our guest at 28th Pol’and’Rock Festival! He will meet the audience of the Academy of the Finest of Arts.

A film, television and stage actor with over 25 years of professional experience, known for his outstanding creations and versatile roles. He had his debut in Andrzej Zulawski's "The Shaman" (1995) while still studying at The Aleksander Zelwerowicz State Theatre Academy in Warsaw. He rose to stardom after his genius portrayal of the lieutenant Despero, a homicide detective Slawomir Desperski, in “Pitbull” (2005)

 

Dorociński would also gain recognition for his roles in "We are all Christs" (2006), "Luiza's Garden" (2008), "OFFsiders" (2008), "Reverse" (2009), "Rose" (2011), "In treatment" (2011), "Manhunt" (2012), "Fear of Falling" (2012), "The Mighty Angel" (2014), "Jack Strong" (2014) or “These Daughters of Mine” (2015). Most recently, he starred in “Teściowie” [Eng. “The In-Laws”] (2021) by Jakub Michalczuk. 

 

Marcin Dorociński made his international debut in Per Fly's film "The woman that dreamed about a man" released in 2010. In 2012 Dorociński won a part in the BBC production "Spies of Warsaw" starring David Tennant. In 2017 Dorociński appeared in "Run", and in 2020, he joined the cast of the Netflix drama miniseries “The Queen's Gambit” starring Anya Taylor-Joy.

 

The actor takes up also dubbing-projects and has given his voice to Kylo Ren in "Star Wars" and Buster Moon in "Sing” among others. 

Dorociński received the Polityka’s Passport, the silver medal "Gloria Artis", the Offskar, the Zbyszek Cybulski Award, the Golden Duck, the “Wiktor” Television Academy Award, and won prizes at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. Repeatedly nominated for the Polish Film Award – the “Eagle”. Member of the Polish Film Academy.

  

He is a social activist engaged in environmental and endangered species protection.

For years the actor was a great supporter of the Grand Finale of the GOCC Foundation, donating exceptional items to the auction. In the last years, he offered a game of chess, an original signed copy of The Queen's Gambit’s script, and a conversation on the series’ making-of. 

 

The AFA meeting with Marcin Dorociński will be held on August 5, 2022, at 1:30 pm.

 

The event is free and open to everyone who wants to take part in the Most Beautiful Festival in the World.

 

The patron of the Academy of Finest of Arts at the Pol'and'Rock Festival is mBank. The AFA meetings are hosted by the Onet.pl journalists. Other guests of the AFA are also Krzysiek Sokołowski playing in Nocny Kochanek band and “Johnny” film crew – a remembrance of Father Kaczkowski (i.e. Dawid Ogrodnik, Maciej Kraszewski and Patryk Galewski).

 

The 28th Pol'and'Rock Festival takes place on August 4-6, 2022 at the premises of the Czaplinek – Broczyno airport, ca. 7 km away from Czaplinek, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Among the already revealed artists of the festival’s line-up this year there are King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, GWAR, Wolf Alice, Clutch, Tagada Jones, and Kwiat Jabłoni. 28th Pol’and’Rock Festival will take a form of a massive peace manifestation with the message: NO WAR. The event is open with no entrance fee.
